Effect of Bubbling on the Potential of Reference Electrode

چکیده
The method for the examination of gas/water interface electrokinetic behavior is developed. "Bubbling potential", i.e. the difference in the potential of the indicator electrode in the absence and presence of gas bubbles was measured. The indicator electrode is a reference electrode with the porous plug exposed to gas bubbles. The charged bubble in contact with the porous plug would affect the potential of the indicator electrode. However, electrodes, whose potential depends on the reversible interfacial reaction, would be relaxed due to the interfacial ionic equilibration and their potential will not be affected by the presence of bubbles. Measured Bubbling potentials are directly related to electrokinetic potentials. The proposed method is fast, accurate and reproducible so that it can be used for the examination of gas/water interfaces in different conditions. The isoelectric point of argon bubbles in the aqueous NaCl solution was obtained as pHiep = 3.9 and pHiep = 3.4 at ionic strength of 10 and 10 mol dm, respectively. (doi: 10.5562/cca2235)

The Synthesized Reduced Graphene Oxide Enhanced the Capacitive Behavior of Activated Carbon/PVA as Potential Electrode Materials
In this work, activated carbon (AC) derived from biomass wastes was implemented as electrode materials in supercapacitor application. This study has adopted rubber seed shell (RSS) wastes to derive AC via pyrolysis process. Meanwhile, reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was used as an additive material in order to study the effect of the rGO in capacitive behavior. The synthesized rGO was successfully...

Abstract The effect of the solid–wall boundary condition on the segregation behavior of a sand ternary mixture differing in size but having the same proportion has been investigated in a gas–solid bubbling fluidized bed. A multi-fluid computational fluid dynamics model incorporating the kinetic theory of granular flow has been used. The mass fraction profiles of the different-sized partic...

Background and Objective: Cadmium is a potential environmental contaminant that causes adverse effects on the environment and the health of living organisms. Therefore, designing a simple and economic technique for its determination is very important. In this respect, a potentiometric sensor based on nefazodone as the ionophore and [BMIM]PF6 as the ionic additive were developed for the determin...

متن کاملFast electrocatalytic determination of methimazole at an activated glassy carbon electrode
A fast and simple voltammetric method for the determination of methimazole in pharmaceutical products was reported. A glassy carbon electrode was pretreated by anodization at +1.75 V (vs. SCE) for 5 min, followed by potential cycling in the range of 0.3-1.3 V (20 cycles). The pretreated electrode showed an excellent electrocatalytic effect on the oxidation of methimazole. Compared with untreate...
